Banmark was entrusted with a critical project to carry out comprehensive washing at the methanol plant and the odor gas system. Due to the nature of the process, these facilities contain components with flammable and hazardous concentrations for humans, making safety and risk management crucial at every stage. Additionally, these facilities have very strong odor nuisances, the management of which is an essential part of the process. The primary goal of the washing was to ensure that the plants and systems were brought to a safe condition for pressure equipment inspections, pipeline modifications, and other shutdown work.
Safety and Success A distinctive feature of the project was the extremely stringent safety requirements. The project began with careful planning in collaboration with the customer and was adapted to the plant’s shutdown schedule. The washing was carried out under carefully controlled conditions and in close cooperation with the customer. Each phase was verified with measurements and procedures to minimize the risk of flammable or health-hazardous gas concentrations.
Results and Customer Benefits As a result of the project, the methanol plant and odor gas system were brought to a safe and approved condition for pressure equipment inspections and necessary modifications. All work phases were completed on schedule and without safety deviations. The customer received reliable and safe systems for further actions, and at the same time, significant odor reduction improved working conditions during the shutdown. The solution was designed and implemented based on customer needs and adapted to their schedule.
“We would like to thank the entire team for the incredible work on the washing project. Last year’s maintenance was challenging for us in many ways, and we faced several obstacles that prevented us from achieving the desired results. However, through these challenges, we gained valuable experience and learned how we can improve our operations together in the future.
This year has been an excellent example of how previous challenges have been turned into strengths. We have succeeded in improving our processes, and the outcome has been entirely different from last year.
Without your contribution, we would not have achieved such a good result. Now we can proudly look at how the washing project has been successfully completed.”
